How To Make The Most of Vacation Sex
If you’re looking for a way to improve your sex life, vacation sex is a good place to start. And if your sex life is already great, going on vacation can make it even better.
What makes vacation sex so good?
For starters, vacations remove you from your everyday stressors such as work, your never-ending To Do lists, and the soul-crushing routines that we do over and over again. Vacations are an opportunity to unwind, rejuvenate and reconnect with one another.
Secondly, you are likely travelling to new or exotic destinations that can offer fun, excitement and adventure. All of this will cross over into your sex life… provided that you don’t overdo it.
Finally, it breaks up your regular sexual routine because you are no longer in the same bed, and without the regular busy schedule, you’re free to have sex at any time. That in and of itself can provide a major boost to your sex life.
How do you ensure the best possible vacation sex?
Leave the kids at home.
It only took me 17 years before I was willing to leave mine at home. It was a mistake to wait that long. I love my boys, but vacations with kids… unless they are old enough to do things on their own and have their own room… are not exactly “relaxing” vacations, let alone romantic ones. Couples need to have time to be lovers and not just parents all the time.
Don’t overschedule your vacation.
In fact, don’t schedule anything. My husband and I recently returned from a vacation in Florida and we did little more than eat, sleep and have sex. No Disney. No Universal Studios. Instead, we rented movies and stayed in. We slept in late, sat in the sun, swam in the pool, had leisurely meals and just relaxed. Pure heaven.
Try to book a trip that doesn’t have an exhausting travel itinerary.
Connecting flights are a huge waste of your time and are often stressful if there are delays. Plus there’s more chance of your bags not meeting their final destination and who needs to be shopping for a new wardrobe the minute you get off the plane?
Travelling is exhausting and the less of it you have to do, the better. Also, book travel times that don’t require you having to get up at 4 am. I’m not a morning person, to begin with, but getting up at some ungodly hour just so that you can arrive before noon, not only makes you arrive tired but throws your whole schedule off. This would apply to changing time zones as well. If this is a vacation for you and your hubby, you don’t need to travel to some far destination that requires 10 hours of travel. Unless of course, you love flying… which I do not.
Book a hotel suite or rent a house.
Having a large seating area, a dining area and your own kitchen are a Godsend. You don’t necessarily want to be cooking on vacation, but having a full kitchen allows you the option of dining in or at least not having to eat every meal in a restaurant. The ability to have breakfast in bed and have snacks for refuelling between sex is always nice. Of course, you can get room service, but I prefer not be disturbed… especially when my focus is on vacation sex.
Don’t make it about sight-seeing.
If you want to make the most of vacation sex, don’t go to a destination where you want to see all of the sights. Because then staying in your room would seem like a waste and you’d just feel guilty. The goal isn’t to discover new places but to rediscover yourselves. Not to mention to relax and unwind. If you’re sight-seeing all day, you’ll be too tired to have sex. Your time and energy should be devoted to each other.
Pack for vacation sex.
This means bringing some sex toys, some new lingerie, and lots of lubricant. You may not need additional lubrication, but better to have it than not to. Same goes for Viagra.

If your hotel room doesn’t come with robes, then be sure to pack them. Lounging around in a robe is definitely the way to go. You also want to pack some comfy clothes, as well as some dress up clothes for those romantic dinners at nice restaurants. And when I say comfy clothes, I mean loose fitting and soft on your skin, not ragged sweat pants that make you look far from appealing. Even some nice activewear is great because you can go for nice walks together and lounge around and still look doable. 🙂
Oh, and bring a noise machine. This can muffle noise coming from your room and also noise coming from someone else’s room. Hearing others having sex can sometimes be a turn on, but not when you are trying to sleep. Plus hearing screaming kids is also not conducive to sleep or sex.
Be willing to step out of your comfort zone.
Vacations are a great opportunity to try new things, new positions and even talk dirty. Why? Because you can and because a vacation offers the means and the “excuse” to explore your wild side. Not only will you be more relaxed, but better sleep and all sorts of new surfaces to have sex on, provide the perfect set-up for trying something new and different. You also have the time, the energy and the privacy to really get your sexy on.
If you’re always having sex in a bed, then have it on something else. Are you are always having sex in the same position? Then try another one. If you usually only have sex at night, have it in the morning or in the afternoon instead. You normally don’t have the option of sex in the middle of the day when you’re at home, so take advantage of this!
Bottom Line: Vacation sex can be the best sex when you plan for it. I’m not talking about scheduling sex, but about not scheduling anything else in order to allow for desire and passion to unfurl on its own.
Sex is important to your relationship and you need to have this quality time with your spouse. Book it and enjoy yourselves.
